YOUR BIRTH, YOUR VISION, YOUR DOULA
I believe that all birthing families need to feel respected, empowered and affirmed throughout their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum time. The foundation of that support is a deep connection with your birth Doula. The person who will be with you during the most transformative and unforgettable experience of childbirth. I value that connection and have created a unique model of care built around the importance of that relationship.
I believe that no laboring person should have to worry about being charged extra for long labors or being in a certain stage of labor before calling your Doula for in-person support. It simply makes no sense (in my opinion) to charge extra when it is completely out of your control, therefore, you never need to worry about any extra fees. Package fees are all inclusive, no matter how long labor may last. I provide tiered pricing for birth Doula services because I want to give everyone the beautiful opportunity to work with a Doula. The support and care you receive is exactly the same.
Your investment in this priceless service starts with a retainer fee of 50% of the total amount upon contract signing, with the balance due at 35 weeks (Usually paid during our first prenatal visit at home). The earlier you hire a Doula, the more value you receive from them, and remember, I can only take 4 contracts per month!

Scheduled Cesarean

1 home visit before the birth, to familiarize myself with your cesarean plans. We can talk about what your hospital offers and how we can advocate for anything that varies from their norm.

Unlimited text, phone, and email support. No matter how your actual birth happens, you can benefit from the support of Doula throughout your pregnancy.
Discuss what your hospital allows. Unfortunately, not all hospitals allow Doulas to attend cesarean births. But even if your Doula isn't able to be with you in the OR, we can often accompany you during pre-op and post-op to help you feel surrounded by support and care in a more personal way than hospitals are usually able to provide.
Discuss the following:
- Curtain to be lowered or request for a clear curtain
- Request for music being played during procedure
- Talk to your doctor about a spinal block rather than an epidural or general anesthesia
- Let them know if you are breastfeeding and the importance of skin-to-skin contact
- Ask about delayed cord clamping and if your partner can cut the cord
- See if your Doula can assist you and at what points during procedure
- Is photography allowed?
- Discuss your pain medication after your surgery
Pre-op Companionship – On the big day, I can accompany you during the presurgical happenings. There are a good number of medical tasks that need to be done the hour or two before a scheduled C section. But often there is a lot of downtime, and as you can imagine, downtime can easily turn into anxiety time. Having a Doula with you during that in between time can make a huge difference in how you experience the day. From helping you communicate your preferences to hospital staff, to making sure all your questions are answered, and being a calm presence to keep you company.
Support during your birth - One of my main roles during a cesarean birth is to humanize the experience as much as possible. In a cold, impersonal operating room, I can bring extreme warmth and connection as you welcome your baby. This is often what clients describe as the most memorable about their cesarean birth experience! Depending on what comes up during the procedures, I will also be offering reassurance to you and your partner, explain what's going on, communicate your questions or concerns with medical staff, support you and helping you cope with any anxiety or discomfort, facilitate skin-to-skin in the OR, taking pictures and more.
Post-op Care – In the recovery unit, I can help facilitate your comfort and your bonding experience with your new baby. Another big priority during this time is feeding your little one. If you're planning to nurse, there could be some unique challenges that come with cesarean birth. I can help you anticipate and address these challenges.
Hands-on support with golden hour/bonding, breastfeeding, and continuous presence and assistance in the immediate postpartum period in hospital (1 – 2 hours)
1-to-2-night stays with you in the hospital. This will give your partner time to prepare the home and rest. I will arrive right before the visiting hours end and stay the night until an agreed upon time at which your partner can return the next morning.
Hands-on support with discharge and coming home - (Help Mom get ready to go home and then settled into home with new baby)
1 (Second additional visit if needed) Postpartum in-home visit (usually two to three days after discharge) to review birth, give feedback and provide necessary referrals and support. I will also give Mom help with rest for herself, light housework, and newborn care.
